Turnip

Turnips are relatively easy to grow in good conditions. Soil should be loose and fertile kept evenly moist. Direct sow in early spring through late summer 0.3 inch deep in rows 12-16 inches apart. Thin to 2 to 6 inches apart all depending on how large you plan to grow the roots, 1-2 inches apart if you plan on growing only for the green shoots. For the best germination soil should be cool to warm (15-18C). Successive plantings will yield a continuous crop.
