Lettuce, Romaine

Romaine type lettuces generally produce a moderate to tight upright head and are usually grown out to full size to harvest. Sow seeds in succession every 2-3 weeks to extend your season. Romaines need a longer season than leaf lettuce types, but usually will tolerate more heat than head lettuce. Romaine lettuce is best sown directly outdoors as soon as soil can be worked. Sow 0.3 inches deep in rows of 12 inches apart in loose fertile soil. Thin to 8-10 inches apart using those pulled for baby greens.
