Watermelon

Watermelon requires a long hot season and can be directly sown in warmer zones. Start indoors use deep pots to avoid disturbing root system at transplant time. Soil should be warm (22-26C) and evenly moist for good germination. Space approximately 18 inches apart in rows 48 inches apart. These proven open-pollinated varieties are far easier to grow, are more productive and have superior flavour compared to the newer 'seedless' types.
