Pole Beans

Pole beans will often produce more crops over a longer period of time than the bush type varieties, but a trellis, canopy or tall pole structure for support will be needed. Bean seeds should be planted 1 inch deep from May-June space seeds 2-4 inches apart in rows 36-48 inches wide. Best germination is achieved when soil temperatures reach (22-26C). Please note: Untreated bean seeds are particularly susceptible to failure if planted in soil that is too cold or wet.
