Leguminous herb, a dry bean with high energy value, easily cultivated. Chickpeas prefer warm to dry weather but still have good tolerance for low temperatures. Bush form that grows 1-2ft/30-60cm high, can either be harvested 'green' to be eaten fresh or more typically dried and cooked later.

Sowing instructions: Plant in spring after frost and when soil begins to warm 0.5 to 1 inch deep 3 inches apart in rows 12-24 inches apart. For dry use harvest once the plants begin to yellow. Chickpeas are one of the oldest known cultivated crops and certainly have one of the highest concentrations of nutrients.
