Chicory Pan di Zucchero (Sugar Loaf) variety originating from Northern Italy. Broad dense firm light green rounded leaves, which gather into a tight voluminous form, tender and full of flavour. Makes for a crunchy succulent salad or blanched.

Sow once soil can be worked in the Spring, sow seed about 3mm (1/8″) deep in rows 45cm (18″) apart. An even supply of moisture during the entire growth period is imperative for success. Harvest by cutting leaves from the main stem at least 2.5cm (1″) above the base. Avoid cutting into the crown where the root begins as new sprouts will often emerge from this area extending the harvest.

Terrific heirloom Butternut Squash substitute, shaped like a Butternut it has a green grey exterior and sweet supple orange flesh. Grows larger than Butternuts at 15-30 lbs on average. Not overly watery like some Squash and has a fine delicate flavour.
Delicious pasta substitute. Prick fruit all over, then boil or bake until tender. Scoop out spaghetti and serve with sauce or chilled in salads.
